Bracelet ala Josephine...

Happy Valentine's Day to all the sweethearts out there! May you always have love in your hearts for each other and overcome all troubles side by side! My friend Dafni from the lovely blog Κόσμημα και Κόσμημα suggested a book by Sherri Haab, entitled Beaded Macrame Jewelry.

Following her suggestion, I found the book and with it the way to make this wonderful leather bracelet. I don't normally use leather, but when I saw the bracelet I knew I had to buy some and give it a try! And so I did!

The knot used is called "Josephine knot" and according to the book is also known as the "double coin knot". Since I have no hearts to show you, I'm going to roll the dice and tell you that the bracelet is suitable for the day, because of the great love between Napoleon and Josephine! It doesn't matter that she broke his heart, it was still a great romance!

According to the book, this knot is very popular in Chinese knotting designs and it gets its name from the shape of two antique Chinese coins overlapping. It symbolizes prosperity and longevity.

 

I'm not done talking about love and why my post today is all about love! Remember Scrat from Ice age? Who doesn't! We all know how much he adores acorns! Well, I took photos of the bracelet on acorns that my lovely husband brought home for me to see! If this is not talking about love, then what is? hehehehe...I'm just kidding...;-)
